The BodyGem®
The BodyGem® is a state-of-the-art, indirect calorimeter that accurately measures resting metabolic rate (RMR).
Translation: It tells you how many calories you need.

Why take the test?
Calorie needs are not a one-size-fits-all, and being off by a few hundred calories a day can mean the difference between losing and gaining weight, or having a stand-still on your scale.

How does it work?
To use the BodyGem you must fast from food and caffeine for 4 hours, and no exercise for 2 hours prior to the test.  Each client receives a disposible mouthpiece that is attached to the BodyGem, and then fits in your mouth similar to a mouthguard.  You then hold the device while breathing through the mouthpiece.

Your metabolism is determined by the oxygen you expel when breathing.  Using this 10-15minute snapshot the BodyGem calculates your metabolism for a 24-hour period.  We can then calculate for daily activities, exercise, and weight goals to determine your daily calorie needs.
